Disposed: Toko Yasuda takes pictures of Los Angeles

Last February, I met Toko Yasuda in Tokyo. She is undeniably one of the key figures in the American Indie music scene, having (and have) played in bands such as Blonde Redhead, Enon, The Laps, St.Vincent and PLVS VLTRA as a solo artist, so I was very honoured and happy to get to know this lovely human being. Just like I casually did to Neon Bunny, Baths and Gold Panda, I gave her a disposable camera to freely take pictures of Los Angeles – a place where she bases herself in right now. Here’s what she saw.

LA’s electro producer Tyzo Bloom released his newest single “Ukiyo” and it’s now available to download freely. Tyzo Bloom’s aim was to make people to get lost in the music and detached from the bothers of life; “As a young music producer in LA, it’s really easy to get stressed out and anxious about how to maintain balance in life. (ex bills, work, passion, relationships) This track is a reminder to enjoy the present and to appreciate life.” Download here.

listen: Classixx “All You’re Waiting For”

LA’s electroduo Classixx unveiled a new track from their second album Hanging Gardens , which is out via Innovative Leisure on May 14. This time featuring the singer Nancy Wang, “All You’re Waiting For” is a winner that promisingly shines brighter than the discoball on the dance floor. It is as easy listening as it gets, but extremely intimate and dance-ready. Listen below.

listen: Baths “Ironworks”

L.A.’s trackmaker Baths is releasing his sophomore effort Obsidian via Japanese imprint Tugboat on May 15. Following the sonically organic and mellow pop of “Miasma“, he unveiled another leading track from the album, which is even mellower, “Ironworks”. Like the last single, he shows his gentler side, putting forward acoustic, gentle melodies like the tracks on Pop Song/False B-Sides and Daytrotter sessions. Still quite enjoyable, though my thoughts are with you. I want to hear the eccentric version of Baths, too.
