We have been a fan of Role’s mysterious aesthetic. Following their debut album How Distant, the London by way of Barcelona group is back with a new EP titled Blurry. Absorbing elements of Dream pop, Witch House, and Trip Hop, they have polished their ethereal sound. It’s ghostly and thrilling, but at the same time, inviting. Stream the EP below.

Moving on with or without sounds. London’s electro duo made of Liam Fergus & Emily Ad, Le Son, is putting out their 7″ single “Without A Sound” from Southeast London’s experimental pop label Squareglass on October 7. Beautifully mixing elements of R&B, Soul and Trip Hop, the duo creates a soundscape of their own. It’s otherworldly, bewitching, and luscious. It’s available to download freely from the widget below.
Escaping for the lounge where dreams and reality coexist. Our favourite minimalist songwriter Semi Precious streams his latest album Ultimate Lounge from UK’s experimental pop label Squareglass. Built on a concept to encapsulate essences of lounge music through cinematic and minimal arrangement, Semi Precious created a space that lets you swim between reality and illusion.
Burn until you can’t. Wild Beasts have always reinvented themselves in every album, and their upcoming LP Boy King is undoubtedly the same. Following the sexual groove of “Get My Bang”, watch the new video for “Big Cat”, a slow burning R&B (-ish) tune. Personally speaking though, as a fan of their drummer Chris Talbot and his unique drum play, I’d like to hear more of his unique, unexpected beats…Let’s see.
Chills on a sun-soaked lounge. London’s Semi Precious is long-awaited first LP, Ultimate Lounge is finally out this month via Squareglass, and now you can hear the album’s standout, “Sun Lounger”. Mixing all the good bits of Easy Listening and Library music, Semi Precious creates an atmosphere that is obviously relaxing and chilling, but there’s something odd and uneasy. Maybe it is because we are inescapable from this perfect lounge music.
What’s at the end Lounge Music? Is it Utopia or Dystopia? South-east londoner Guy Baron questions, and explores the genre’s ultimate calmness on his debut LP as Semi Precious titled Purple Room. You can now watch the visual treatment for “Purple Room”. Warm synthetic sounds and slow-burning trip-hop beats create an intricate electronic tapestry, making you want to stay in the space forever. The album is out July 22 via Squareglass.
South London trio Dems are angry. Their new track is a brooding, industrial electro pop, implying their fury towards the city’s rising rent and greedy property owners (they are recently kicked out of their creative studio in South London). It’s dark and romantic, and increasingly poignant on every listen. Make sure you check out our interview we did when they released their amazing “Muscle Memory” LP.
Previewly Focused UK’s up-and-comer, Honne is doing really well these days. Selling out shows in Europe and multiple plays on BBC Radio 1. Their new single, which is now out via Atlantic, is a collaboration with a singer Izzy Bizu. It’s smooth, pop and soulful. Good as ever. Listen below.
Our favourit electronic experimentalist Bunki is releasing Turn EP on April 8 from Squareglass. Stream the new single, “Turn” from the player below. Intricate soundscape, a great wash of white noise that roams about on top of hypnotic synth lines. It is not far off to describe it as a maze of sound. Bizarre but a purely blissful experience.
