watch: Kate NV, “meow chat”

ロシア出身のエクスペリメンタルポップミュージックを奏でるソングライターKate NVが、3月に発売の新作アルバム『WOW』より”meow chat”のミュージックビデオを公開。

日本語歌詞を繰り出した”oni”、鳥が巨大化するビジュアルが印象的な”early bird”に続いて発表された”meow chat”は、前作『Room for the Moon』のポップさと『д​л​я FOR』のエレクトロニックな実験を融合させたような、奇天烈なインスト作品。機械的な猫の鳴き声と不思議なサンプル音（剣がぶつかり合う音？）が童謡っぽいメロディーに絡みつき、Kate NVならではの雰囲気を生み出しています。

Kate NV knows a trick or two to immediately bring listeners into her world. The singles that preceded “meow chat” showed the Russian songwriter playfully mixing the pop sensibility she achieved in “Room for the Moon” and the electronic experiments in “д​л​я FOR“. With “meow chat”, Kate NV is all about fun samples! The sword fighting, computerised (I guess) cat meows and a numerous other samples are scattered around her fable-like, anime theme song like melodies. In terms of visual execution I wonder if Kate NV has seen Crystal’s works and got inspired?
